HOW DO I GET STARTED?
The case begins with a Summons and Complaint that our office drafts and files with the Court. Your Spouse has 21 days from the date of being served with the Complaint to file an answer with the Court and your lawyer.
The length of time your divorce will take depends on several factors including the difficulty of the issues and how willing the divorcing parties are to work together in resolving issues.
If there are no children involved, the Court can grant a Michigan Divorce after 60 days.
If children are involved, the Court cannot by law grant a divorce until 6 months have passes. The Court will hold proceedings to determine custody, parenting time, and support. The Court will move very quickly to make these important Interim decisions and Orders which will be in effect until your divorce is final.
Aggressive representation is important as the Court makes these Interim Decisions throughout the Divorce proceedings.
